A Sikorsky helicopter of New York Airways arrives on the rooftop heliport of the Port Authority building. The pavilion featured one of the fair’s most exclusive restaurants. Just below rooftop level, the Top of the Fair offered fine dining with a magnificent view. A 360-degree movie about the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey was shown in the circular structure at the base of the table-topped pavilion.

One of displays at the heliport was a model of the Port Authority’s World Trade Center. Ground was broken for this lower Manhattan office complex in 1966, just one year after the fair closed. It is ironic, in light of the fair’s theme of Peace through Understanding, that the World Trade Center was destroyed in a terrorist attack just 35 years later.
