If I did not tolerate one food within a group, should I assume that I can’t tolerate all the other foods in that group?

No. Remember, with Plans A and B, you are assessing your tolerance to a type of FODMAP in your diet, rather than your tolerance to individual foods. It’s important not to overgeneralize your results. Discuss this sort of question with your dietitian before jumping to conclusions that might lead you to permanently restrict any large group of foods. Other factors could be responsible for your reaction to one particular food, including portion size, an especially high FODMAP content of that particular food sample, a food allergy or sensitivity, or the presence of alcohol, caffeine, non-nutritive sweetener, or a large amount of fat.
